Curling: Chess on ice at the Ardsley Curling Club Video

A broom. A stone. A pebbly sheet of ice. A lot of men. What is...hm...something to do with Halloween? An initiation for phi sigma delta cosine? It's CURLING silly! Or more specifically, curling at the Ardsley Curling Club in Westchester County, New York, where I had a chance to learn about this ancient sport during the 73rd Annual McKay-Douglas International Bonspiel. Did you know "bonspiel" means "curling tournament?" Did you know curling is commonly referred to as "chess on ice" because of the strategy and concentration involved? Although it also reminded me of a pool tournament judging by the angle and geometry involved in manipulating the stone. Did you know a curling club is also a great way to meet men? I learn so much from doing my website...My thanks to Vic Huebner, event chairperson of the bonspiel, as well as Bill Peskoff, Eric Blassneck and Don Baird from the Plainfield Curling Club for educating me on the art and complexity of curling. Now I'm ready to watch it during the Olympics as a somewhat knowledgeable fan!
